How do I purchase a Trip Mate designed plan?

Passengers traveling with one of our “Partners in Travel” will be eligible to purchase the plan designed for their arrangements. When purchasing your travel arrangements through a travel agency, please be sure to ask if the travel supplier offers such a plan.

Do I really need travel protection? Don't I already have coverage through my credit card and personal medical plans?

Travel protection is a smart investment for everyone. While credit cards often provide limited benefits for accidental death & dismemberment and other limited services, they do not provide the comprehensive benefits available with a travel protection plan. Personal medical plans, such as those provided by a employer or through a government agency, generally provide limited or no coverage while traveling away from home. You should always check your personal policies to determine if they would cover medical expenses incurred while traveling. Be sure to ask if your policies cover emergency evacuation and related expenses.

How do I file a claim?

What is Global Xpi and why is it so important?

Global Xpi Service is exclusive to Trip Mate and included with most of our plans. With this service, travelers can register their critical medical information online in a password-protected, secure web site environment. This important information is available to the passenger, or with the passenger's permission, to a treating physician anywhere at any time during the trip should a medical emergency arise. Accurate medical information can assist the treating physician and ensure that the correct diagnosis and care is given as quickly as possible.

When should I pay for the travel protection plan?

When you make your initial payment or deposit for your trip. Most of our plans include a provision to waive the Pre-Existing Conditions exclusion if you purchase the plan at or near the time of your initial deposit/payment for your trip.

What can I do if I lose my passport or visa close to the departure date of my trip, or while I am traveling?

Fortunately, passports and visa can often be replaced in a very short period of time, sometimes as quickly as 24 hours, if you know who to contact. Worldwide assistance service personnel are available 24 hours a day, every day, and can help you obtain a replacement passport or visa.

What happens if my bags do not arrive at my destination when I do? What do I do?

Trip Mate plans generally cover baggage delays of 24 hours or more during a trip. You will be reimbursed up to the plan limit for personal articles you buy (such as toiletries, a change of clothing, etc.). Be sure to keep receipts for anything you purchase. Your delayed or lost baggage will be tracked for up to one full year, if requested.

If my Baggage is lost, stolen or damaged during my trip, do I have to file a claim with my homeowner's policy first?

No, plans that include baggage protection only require that you report your loss to a responsible party such as a hotel manager, tour guide, transportation official or local police and obtain a written report of your loss and the disposition of your claim with a responsible party.
