1. Why should I pay for the Delta Vacations Travel Protection Plan within 7 days of the initial deposit or payment for my Trip?
When you pay for the Delta Vacations Travel Protection Plan within 7 days of your initial deposit for your trip, the Pre-Existing Conditions exclusion will be waived, provided you are not disabled from travel at the time your payment is received, and the plan provides coverage for a Terrorist Act, as defined. You are also eligible for the Delta Vacations Pre-Departure Cancellation Waiver when you purchase the plan within 7 days of your initial deposit for your trip. 2. What happens if my flight is delayed or canceled?
The Delta Vacations Travel Protection Plan protects you in several ways. If your flight is canceled due to inclement weather, mechanical breakdown, or an organized labor strike (provided the strike occurs after you pay your premium) you can:
  1. take a later flight, and you will be reimbursed up to a maximum limit of $500 for the cost of any unused land or water travel arrangements; and/or  Click here for complete details of this benefit.

  2. you will be reimbursed up to $100 per day to a maximum of $500 for additional accommodation and travel expense if your trip is delayed for 12 hours or more for a covered reason. Click here for complete details of this benefit.

3. What are Pre-Existing Conditions and can a Pre-Existing Condition be covered by the Delta Vacations Travel Protection Plan?
Medical conditions for which there is treatment; or a recommendation for treatment, diagnostic test or exam; or for which drugs or medicine are prescribed during the 60 day period prior to your effective date are Pre-Existing Conditions. The policy excludes your Pre-Existing Conditions and those of a Traveling Companion or an Immediate Family Member traveling with you. Exception: Medical conditions that are treated or controlled solely with medication and remain treated or controlled without an adjustment or a change in medication during the 60 day period prior to your effective date are not considered to be Pre-Existing Conditions. IMPORTANT! - The policy exclusion for Pre-Existing Conditions will be waived if:
  1. the premium for the coverage is received by Delta Vacations within 7 days of the initial deposit / payment for the Trip; and

  2. you are not disabled from travel when you pay your premium.

4. Does the Delta Vacations Travel Protection Plan cover me if I want to cancel my trip due to terrorist acts?
The Delta Vacations Travel Protection Plan does provide a benefit if you must cancel or interrupt your trip due to terrorist acts in your departure city or in a city which is a scheduled destination for your trip.To be covered, the terrorist acts must occur within 30 days of the scheduled departure date for the trip.  Click here for complete details of this benefit.

5. What can I do if I lose my passport or visa close to the departure date of my trip?
Fortunately, passports and visas can often be replaced in a very short period of time.  Sometimes as quickly as 24 hours.  There are a number of passport service agencies who can provide this expedited service for you.  Click here for a passport service agency.

6. What if bad weather is predicted where I plan to travel or my Trip destination is affected by a natural disaster? Will the Delta Vacations Travel Protection Plan cover me if I cancel my Trip?
If while on your Trip, your flight is canceled or your hotel or resort is damaged or closed due to bad weather (including hurricanes or other natural disasters) and the airline, hotel or resort cancels your arrangements (and cannot provide you with comparable arrangements or accommodations elsewhere), you will be covered.

However, Delta Vacations provides all customers with a Hurricane Guarantee Plan.

Hurricane Guarantee Plan


The Hurricane Guarantee Plan automatically protects all customers and refunds the cost of your arrangements booked by MLT, Inc., less $50 per person service fee, if the scheduled destination is under a hurricane watch or warning, as declared by the National Hurricane Center (NHC). Under this plan, a client can cancel his or her vacation up to the moment of departure and receive a full refund (less the $50 per person service fee). BONUS – If a client has purchased the Travel Protection Plan: 1) the $50 per person service fee will not be assessed; 2) the refund under the Hurricane Guarantee Plan will include the cost of the Travel Protection Plan; and 3) the gift card will be valid for re-booking for up to one year from date of issue (without purchase of Travel Protection Plan, the gift card is valid for re-booking up to 60 days from date of issue). The Hurricane Guarantee Plan benefit is provided by MLT, Inc. and is not an insurance benefit.

Remember, if you purchase the Travel Protection Plan within seven (7) days of your initial deposit for your trip, you also receive the Delta Vacations Pre-Departure Cancellation Waiver that allows you to cancel your Delta Vacations travel arrangements up to your scheduled departure for ANY REASON. 7. What happens if my bags do not arrive at my destination when I do? What do I do?
The Delta Vacations Travel Protection Plan covers all baggage delays of 24 hours or more during your Trip. You will be reimbursed up to $250 for personal articles you buy (such as toiletries, a change of clothing, etc.).  Be sure to keep receipts for anything you purchase.

Your delayed or lost baggage will be tracked for up to one full year, if requested.

8. If I require medical care while on my Trip, are my medical bills covered?
The policy covers medical expenses resulting from an illness or injury during your Trip. We even cover medical expenses for up to 1 year after your injury or illness. 9. How do I file a claim?
To file a claim, call the Claims Administrator, Trip Mate, at 1-800-888-7292. Their Customer Service Representatives will assist you with your claim and mail you the appropriate claim form(s). 10. Does the Delta Vacations Travel Protection Plan cover my frequent flyer miles?
Frequent flyer miles are not covered if you must cancel or interrupt your Trip. If you cancel your Trip for a covered reason, you will only be reimbursed the money actually paid for the Trip.

11. What happens if I lose my job and I must cancel my Trip?
The plan provides coverage for job termination provided: 1) your job loss is the result of your involuntary termination of employment or layoff which occurs more than 30 days after your effective date of coverage; 2) was not under your control; and 3) you must have been continuously employed with the same employer for 2 years prior to the termination or layoff. This provision is not applicable to temporary employment, independent contractors or self-employed persons.
